My Story
A defining moment in my life set me up for greatness. It happened in my second-grade classroom, when my teacher, Mrs. Bartlett, gave me a gift that I never anticipated or had ever experienced before. In front of the entire class, with no fanfare or major overtures, she simply saw something in me. She recognized my value and worth. She appreciated me in a way that felt life affirming, empowering and energizing. For the first time in my life, I felt how it feels to love myself and a light switched on inside me that suddenly illuminated my world.
Most of my education did not come from the classroom, however. After spending time in the library mapping out my plan, I escaped home when I was thirteen. God’s divine hand led me safely through my tumultuous beginning and good people stepped in at the right time. I learned how to show up for myself and I learned transformation started on the inside.
It was not easy. I felt like an outsider and desperately wanted to fit in. There were times I wasn’t able to see my inner beauty or feel God’s given wisdom shared with me. I had to learn how to believe in myself and stand up for my ideas. I gravitated toward the beauty industry and invested my energy in helping others locate their own beauty. As a hair and make-up artist, I saw first-hand the transformational effects of my work.
I learned that beauty runs deep, way deep. Beauty is a substantive and necessary component of our life, one that permeates all facets of our being and needs tending and attention. I believe a life without beauty lacks meaning. True beauty begins when you connect to your unique, one-of-a-kind self. It’s about tapping into God’s divine wisdom. It’s not about comparing yourself to someone else or trying to live up to society’s expectations.
Once I connected to my own beauty, I was connected to my courage, passion and purpose. This is when I realized health and beauty are synonymous. A healthy life is a beautiful life. Health is the building block. Awareness is the key.
Today, I help women build a healthier life to be beautiful inside and out. I believe once a woman recognizes their value and locates their brilliance, their confidence will shine like a diamond. True beauty shines from the inside out. This is what Beauty Transformation Coaching® is all about.
